Swimming Pool Builders Cairns

Here at Placid Pools we pride ourselves on creating Commercial and Residential swimming pools that not only are great to cool off in our tropical summer heat, they also can be built to suit your needs or style.

We offer a range of water qualities such as:
  • Mineral Pools ( as one clients testimonial stated " I have had this from day 1 and is ten times better than SALTWATER / Chlorine and healing quality of mineral water is unbelievable ". David Allison )     If you don't have a Mineral Pool you can generally convert your existing pool to one so please ask. More about these here Mineral Pools
  • Eco Splash Natural Water Pools                                                                                                          You want No Chemicals at all, then this is the pool for you. Eco Splash Pools are unique here in Australia and this system can be setup in most parts of the country or oversea's. Based on European fresh water pools, but tweeked for the warmer climates, you will be glad to refresh in a pool full of Natures own fresh water. Go Eco and own one of these. More on Eco Pools here Eco Pools
  • Ionizers                                                                                                                                     These systems use copper and in some models silver, as their base form of sanitizer, they still need general chemicals to control ph etc but generally perform well in cooler climates or with pools that are under cover.
  • Salt                                                                                              This type of system is one of the most widely used, long before Mineral Pools and Eco Pools where thought of as mainstream, More corrosive and chemical laden but a general good system to use.
There are a few other types of systems but these are the main ones, if any are of interest we are always happy to be contacted for more information.

Dolphin Fact of the Week:

Wonder Brushes and Climbing Rings:
The material that the Wonder Brushes and the climbing rings on the Combined Brushes is made out of is called poly vinyl alcohol (or PVA).  It has an internal structure that is similar to that found in natural sea sponges.  It can absorb up to 12 times its dry weight in liquid, producing a wet volume that is 20% greater than its dry volume.  It is actually the strongest and most abrasion-resistant of any synthetic sponge material, and it can withstand temperatures of up to 90° C (194° F) before melting.  It's also an excellent filter, with a filtration capability that far exceeds that of our filter bags and cartridges, though we don't use it in that way in the Dolphin products.

To extend the life span of this material in Dolphin products, here's a few tips:

  • Rinse the rings with fresh, clean water after use in the pool to wash out any residual chemicals, which can break down the foam over time and cause it to disintegrate during use.
  • Let the Dolphin dry upside-down out of the water to prevent the rings from deforming as they dry (though they will plump back up once re-hydrated).
  • When the Dolphin is first placed in the water, let it soak for 10-15 minutes to ensure that the rings have absorbed as much water as they can before running the cleaner.  Dry rings can sometimes cause the unit to float until the air in their cell structure is replaced by water.
